I just returned from the ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) show in New York City, where I saw this fabulous rug. Truly a new take on the traditional Oriental Rug, which I think could be great in the Iantuono’s rustic/contemporary home. Scraps from oriental rugs are dyed in a consistent colorway, such as [...] The dining chairs will be custom upholstered, using Indian design rugs, such as these. The client found a great source on a recent vacation and called me to discuss the idea and also the size of what to buy. I calculated that one runner, 30″ wide x 8′ would do one chair, so she bought ten [...] Wherever a designer may be, he or she has an eye out for items that may work on any ongoing projects. Whenever I am in New York City, which is every couple of months, I hit my favorite shops, vendors or the D&D building. On my last trip, ABC HOME, with floor after [...] This vacation home in Mammoth Lakes will have a lot of wood: wood floors, wood ceiling and wood paneling. I think it could be overwhelming, but the client just loves texture. Drywall is not a favored surface. Wallpaper, however, can add fabulous texture and enhance the rustic style of the home, while visually lightening the [...] Throughout the house, areas or rooms have different motifs that repeat in subtle ways. At least I hope it is subtle, because I would actually prefer that the details are not immediately noticed, but rather that the overall effect is harmonious. In Bath 4, for example, the tile has a little deco detail that is [...] The girls bunks have been primed and are being sanded, ready for paint. The color will be Pittsburg Paint Olive Sprig. The crown of the room and the window are all integrated with the bunks and so, all of the woodwork in this room will be painted the Olive Sprig Color. The electrical locations were [...] The tile in the kitchen is minimal, yet it adds a homey detail. The subway tile is from Mosaic House and is a very irregular and handmade product. The subtle color variations are part of it’s charm and also part of what will link together the stone masonry, which you can see is being prepped [...] All of the Mirrors, cabinet hardware, towel bars, towel rings, hooks, etc. were put together in a Power Point presentation, arranged by bathroom, and sent to Mollie. Each bath has an individual mirror, based on the size available, which is often determined by the placement of the lighting (such as side sconces).
